The administrators have recently been discussing the relative lawlessness of the forums, and we have decided to implement a few ground rules that we believe will help keep everything running smoothly. When I say "a few" rules, I mean it—there are only four of them. Our goal is to try a loose but flexible approach to the rules right now. If we can't make it work for whatever reason, we will take a stricter approach, so please help us make that course of action unnecessary!
Without further ado, the rules:
- First and foremost, apply common sense when using these forums. If you can do that, you will prosper.
- Keep the flaming to a minimum. We know that these forums serve as an important meeting place for the competitive Soldat community, and we know that sometimes players can get heated over things that happen in the game, so we expect a little bit of hostility now and then. That being said, it is not OK to be constantly vitriolic. If it seems like most of your posts are negative, then you are probably having a negative impact on the community, and we will remove your posting abilities until you can conduct yourself more appropriately.
- Chill out with the bigotry. It is not cool to insult somebody because of race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other such characteristic. We get it—sometimes you are only messing around with your buddy, and he's OK with you calling him whatever prejudiced word that you want, but for everybody else's sake please try to keep it on IRC between the two of you. It makes some people uncomfortable, whether you mean it as a joke or not.
- Post in English. The moderators of these forums all speak English, and some of them do not speak any other language. Therefore, in order for the moderators to properly enforce the rules outlined above, it is important that all posts on the forums be in English as well. No, you will not get instantly banned for posting a couple of words in another language, but if it becomes a bad habit of yours, sooner or later you will not be able to post at all.
I have placed a link to this post in the header at the top of the forums for quick and ready access. I have also modified the new user registration agreement to include mention of these rules. Because this topic will be in such a prominent location and because it exists merely to list the rules and not to serve as an avenue for discussion, I will be locking it.
